Nags Head was the first area of the outer banks to be developed as a beach resort. As a result, people still sometimes refer to the outerbanks as Nags Head, as in: "we're vacationing in Nags Head". Nags Head offer a wide variety of activities for the entire family, from shopping in outlet malls, water sports on the soundside (kite surfing, wind surfing, jet skis), hang gliding, flying kites, dining out at a gazillion restaurants, to bird watching in the Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge.
